Black males are smashing through college barriers, overcoming adversity, and proving what’s possible when education and opportunity meet. In this podcast, Dr. Samino Scott delves into the challenges faced by young men of color, from navigating systemic barriers to identifying the right resources, and shares practical strategies for success.
Each episode blends lived experience, research, and powerful conversations with students, educators, and community leaders who are rewriting the narrative. Together, we’ll explore how education can transform lives, reduce recidivism, and open doors to brighter futures.
Because every young person deserves a chance to dream, achieve, and thrive.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
The Data is Clear:
-
Youth who earn post-secondary credentials have significantly lower recidivism rates
-
Every dollar invested in education saves multiple dollars in incarceration costs
-
Educational opportunity is one of the strongest predictors of successful community re-entry
The Personal Truth: "I was 16 years old in the same facility where I now work as Chief. That transformation didn't happen by accident - it happened through education, opportunity, and people who believed in second chances. Every young person in our juvenile justice system is one opportunity away from transformation.
